Backups, data recovery, privacy, and credentials
Repairs, operating-system work, failing storage devices, malware removal, and data-recovery attempts can result in data loss. Customers should maintain a current backup whenever practical. Glasgow Tech Works may ask the customer to confirm a backup, request a backup service, or decline backup and accept the risk before destructive work.
Data recovery is an attempt, not a guarantee. Mechanically or electrically failed storage may be referred to a specialist.
Glasgow Tech Works accesses customer files and accounts only as reasonably necessary for authorized service and does not intentionally browse unrelated personal content. Passwords or PINs should be temporary when possible and are not intended for permanent plaintext storage. Payment-card information is handled by the payment processor, not stored by Glasgow Tech Works.
Temporary copies, diagnostic files, and customer-provided credentials are retained only as needed for service, records, security, or legal obligations and should be removed when no longer needed. Private ticket photos are subject to an operational retention period and are removed from private storage when that period expires.
Customers may ask Glasgow Tech Works to review, correct, or delete personal information that is no longer needed. A deletion request does not require destruction of records that must reasonably be retained for an active job, warranty, authorization history, payment/refund/dispute, accounting/tax, fraud/security, or other legitimate recordkeeping purpose. Where practical, unnecessary personal details should be removed or minimized while required business records are preserved.
